All that work, wow, well done. I presume that this is at the cost of modelling.

Seeing this is a boating forum, and modelling is secondary I will let you off. :D

True, and I have a new coach waiting for me at home.

The water tank is full again after the put Milton in, fill, disinfect all pipes, empty, fill to rinse, empty, fill process. That uses 2.5 tons of water!

I have also fitted the ceramic filter for the drinking water tap.

I have pumped fuel from the bottom of the fuel tank to check for water, there wasn't any. I have checked the water separator, there still wasn't any.

A day of water really.

I did vacuum clean the carpets and rugs though.

I started to put back the brass BCN challenge plaques but was concerned that the paint finish we had applied was rough. It turns out that we had used a left over tin of cream with antislip in it rather than the cream without it!

Power sander time!

Still the boat is good to go two and a half months earlier than last year. If the wind calms down a bit we will go! There were people attempting to cruise in the 45mph gusts. One guy was stuck against the lock landing for 15 minutes. He should just have sprung the stern but didn't seem aware of the technique. I guess I should have offered help but saying, efectively, you are doing it wrong is quite hard.

Back home now to wifey.

Cheers Graham

SSSHHHH , don't tell anyone, my first job on leaving school was for a local grocery chain. We use to use Milton to soak shoulder bacon shanks in to kill off the maggots inside. Fancy doing that today.

I worked in a grocery and had to weigh bags of potatoes at 5lb a bag. I had to weigh the bags until it was just under 5lb then add soil to bring the bag to over 5lb.

Also at the till checkout we had a tin of beans which we would ring up but not add it to the basket, if someone complained we were told to say "Sorry I thought these beans were yours".

It was on the orders of the manager.

We have had problems with water pooling on the rear deck cover so need more supports. I am going to copy this guy's ideas.

Just had a successful few days on the boat.

The anti pooling idea didn't work every well as the curve of the rear deck meant the pole would slide back and could twist. So I made two vertical extendable poles out of mop handles and they work.

Image

I also derusted, filled, primed and painted the bottom of the engine bay underneath the stern tube. No photos I am afraid.

Meanwhile Jo got on with painting the rear cabin. This area had suffered badly with water damage to the wood from the open hatch in the boat's hire cruiser days and we have finally got around to doing something.

Image

I have fitted the new trim tab to the rudder but haven't tried it yet as I didn't want any leaks through the stern tube onto the new paint until it is dry.

Behind the TV was a back hole, the triangular cupboard it sits on had a dark brown surface and I have regularly 'lost' things behind there. We have resurfaced it in a light wood effect.

I have modified the anti pooling pole, the base doesn't offend me now and the top will spread the load a little better.

We are on the boat again, Jo has finished the painting in the rear cabin for now. I have fitted 3 new CO alarms that will comply with the BSS in the inspection next year. I have also replaced all the elastic on the tonneau cover and refitted it with one anti pooling pole.

Image

We visited the old barracks at Weedon which is being bought back to life with all sorts of activity including an antique market for Jo. It used to be connected to the Grand Union. This is the entrance.

This is the old basin inside.

Finally I have put up the BCN challenge plaques on Jo's repainted wall.

Settled in for the night now.

More work, I have sorted out and cleaned the engine bay. We tried the new trim tab. It does help but feels like we could do with a bit more trim. I will try it on our next trip and decide if I need to bend it a bit more.

The video is here. https://youtu.be/rnh9CMnTS1k

Back home now.

Cheers Graham

If I wasn't so busy myself with my garden, you would be making me feel tired.

In both cases Graham the end results should make the efforts well worthwhile. :D
