I thought I would take some more happy snaps.

The bride seems to have change her mind.

Image

The works has a minor 100 in there despite its name.

Image

I always like the tunnel.

Image

Shunting is not a strong point on the narrow gauge.

Image

It seems a bit late for ice cream, do not look through the windows as there is all sorts of naughtiness going on in there!

Image

The fire is going well.

Image

Quite why there is a bear near the castle escapes me.

Night time

Great pictures Graham, I particularly like the water effect on canal ones. :D

Remember this?

Image

It looks like this now.

I wasn't happy with the operational side of things or the UI use of old set track points or the zig zag in the Triang system where the two systems merged.

It just had to go.

Cheers Graham

Yes I know that's what makes it interesting, seeing it all rise again from the 'ashes' so to speak. :D

It got worse!

I have been cleaning up all the wiring, removing all the old connections, I found a superfluous wire which I believe used to feed a separate section on the Triang circuit. I can find the switch for it on the control panel but the wire vanishes under the narrow gauge loops never to be seen again. I might just leave it.

Cheers Graham

The 3MT looks good and was quite cheap (£17). It was described as a good runner on eBay, in both directions apparently.

Reality was it stuttered in both directions and went the opposite way to the controller.

There is really no such thing as a non runner with these Triang engines. After taking it apart, cleaning and lubricating everything, sorting out the wiring and fettling the valve gear it now runs excellently.

Cheers Graham

I had Triang Hornby Hall when I was a kid - I got if for Christmas when I was 11. Over the years it has been repaired and maintained. I still have it!

Ok this is the only bit left from 1966

Image

Well the wheels aren't original either. I replaced them with Romford drivers to run on modern track.

So the chassis and bogie are original and I intend to resurrect the locomotive. I have fitted a new set of drivers but still need to find bogie and tender wheels.

The current body is Hagley Hall rather then Albert Hall so I bought an Albert Hall as a donor. This chassis runs very well and I have fitted the Hagley Hall body to it.

Image

I already have an Albert Hall on the layout so now have two running halls on the layout and my slowly coming together 'original' one.

Some may think it is a bit of a waste of time resurrecting the chassis but as there is a trace from the original engine through a set of replaceable parts it is still legally the same engine - so there!

Cheers Graham

It is a rebuild and as long as you are happy with it, it doesn't matter what the rivet counters think. A great j :D b.
