I think it's a bit of give and take Graham, I recall you sending me a Gaugemaster High Frequency Electronic Track Cleaner a couple of years ago, that you had no need for.

Oh did you find the surprise gift that I had included. :D

I did Maurice, for the benefit of other readers I think Maurice was concerned for the well being of the mice inhabiting my railway. He included a lovely bit of cheese for them. Unfortunately their cruel and heartless landlord (me) has evicted them. If the air is still and everyone has gone to bed and all is silent, you may just here a plaintive squeak from the local flood meadows. This translates as 'where has that tasty railway gone'.

Cheers Graham

There has been some pretty appalling disregard of basic health and safety in some layouts so I thought I'd show you how it should be done.

I have finished rebuilding the scenery around the church and down to the canal.

I am using an adaption of Maurice's technique. I glue the cloth down over formers and then paint on dilute plaster (from Wilkio's). the next layer is paint, followed by PVA followed by ground texture. It stiffens up quite well. This is work in progress.

This is the part I like about modelling, it can and does get messy, but you can see where you are going with it, and you can change plans mid stream if you want to. It's looking good Graham. :D

I have drawn up a plan to get the narrow gauge up from the canal to the high level dual gauge section.

I've drawn it SCARM. The lowest level track will be in a tunnel until it gets about a quarter of the way through the first loop.

I have been looking at this stuff to build the track base on the curving inclines. They make it in 3% or 4% gradient. The gradients I have used in my plan are around 3.5% - slight rework required.

I have just about finished the rebuild of the scenery around the castle.
