Yet more pics, the front and the back is looking good in primer https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.736265253166534.1073741853.473299846129744&type=3

We had better start on the curtain washing task. We'll need to put them back up soon at this rate.

I struggled to find replacement fittings to fit the curtain tracks. All the end stops were broken and a number of a sliders missing. I had no idea who made them I finally pinned down a website with a picture against a scale and they are Integra Discreet - sound like something you get in a dodgy sort of shop!

Cheers Graham

We had an email from the moorings police!! In all the time I've owned Dotterel she has never spent more than one night on a mooring away from home. The painter has her off the home mooring to be a bit considerate to other moorers.

However, thinking about it I think we have complied with the rules.

She came off the mooring and spent a little less than two weeks in the pound beneath Calcutt Locks. The she went to Stockton to turn around and has been back in the pound for a little less than two weeks. In a cruise from her mooring to Stockton and back I don't think the rules stop you mooring in the same place on the outward and inbound journeys. The enforcement guys haven't noticed she is facing the other way. today she is moving again so it should be the end of things. I rang them up to put the record straight and the enforcement officer 'may' wish to speak to me himself or may not.

I really think they need to concentrate on people that don't move rather than me.

Cheers Graham

and be more observant at the very least, maybe the one that reported you should have gone to Specsavers.

I finally spoke to the enforcement officer and he agreed we had commplied with the rules. Anyway Dotterel is back on her mooring as alll the wire brushing is finished so the rest of the repaint can be done there. The painters have more of an issue as they need to moor for a month to do a job. Previously they had been allowed to stay put as the enforcement guys knew they would be moving on after the paint job but the rules are being applied with a little more vigour.

Further progress.

Front deck in primer.

Image

The left side with the hull now painted. It is Satin Black rather than gloss which apparently takes knocks a little better.

Image

Front deck in undercoat.

Hand over of the completed job is scheduled for Saturday.

So that is 1 week to go before you have what will be a fantastic boat, in essence a new one.

We came up to the boat yesterday and started the process of putting her back in cruising trim.

I've put up all the curtains and Jo cleaned the fridge, the life forms in the fridge would interest many scientists.

We set the alarm for 3am and watched the eclipse which was fantastic. The night was so clear that you could see the Orion nebula if you didn't look straight at it.

Today we set off towards Braunston, stopping for lunch at the Boat House. I rebuilt the search using nuts and bolts so I can take it down if necessary. Now moored at Hillmorton.
