A walk along the towpath from Fidlers Ferry to where the canal is severed at Widnes.

Differences in spelling:-It is interesting that the St Helens Canal and Railway Company had spelled their railway station name as Fidlers Ferry but the CEGB used Fiddlers Ferry for both the their railway and power station.

Spike Island was the name given to the area between the canal and the estuary. It had been occupied by Widnes Dock, Hutchinson's chemical works, railway sidings and waste dumps.
