It has been a very pleasant day on the boat. There was very little traffic on the way up even on the M25.

Jo finished pulling up the old floor tiles in the bedroom and I put up my father's home made pipe rack in the back cabin to store tiller pins and BCN handcuff keys. We both did some work on touching up paint work damage from last year's adventures.

Lunch was very nice.

We also spent some time just enjoying being there.

On the way home now, my half of the drive saw the car just sitting at 70 with the cruise control on. Now we are nearing London there is a little more traffic but it is so easy driving at the moment.

Cheers Graham

We are on Dotterel and are staying for a night or two or maybe 6. We have just been for a walk around the marina and sat by the canal sampling a little something from my hip flask.

It seems a little unreal at the moment.

Today I have sanded the bit below the gunnels and above the rubbing strip and painted it. This area had been damaged in Brum.

Well it has rained all day so Jo and I have put some serious effort into maintenance.

Jo has been painting the rear cabin, sanding is complete as is shellac undercoat. First coat of gloss is on. Second coat due tomorrow.

I have finished the floor through our bedroom. We will do the rear cabin in the same way next winter.

Jo also refurbished the steps to the side hatch which we discovered ( after all this time ) were incorrectly installed. It is looking good.

I have done a quick paint job. The swim was looking tired so I sanded, derusted, printed and painted it. I had to undo all the tie wraps keeping the fuel lines secure and replace them afterwards.

I have also put up a curtain to cover the shelves were all the electrical gubbins like fuse box, distribution panel and rear inverter were on display.

Dotterel has left her mooring, we are just enjoying a single night out so haven't gone far. It feels great though!

I have been playing with the hatch.

Image

What is new I hear you ask, it is a hatch. Well it is but now it has a sheet of perspex in it. The clue is in the mounts.

Image

It means you can have the doors open but keep the warmth in. The perspex is also held by magnetic strip but it isn't strong enough to resist the wind hence the catches. This is a prototype so it will change.

Cheers Graham
