Had a really nice trip up Braunston Locks in glorious sunshine. Moored between locks and tunnel at about 8:30 pm. This morning we have come through Braunston tunnel and down Buckby locks. We are now sitting in a garden centre cafe to recover. One of the kids is missing Mum a lot so we are going back to Calcutt tomorrow so we cam take her home. Cheers Graham

After lunch yesterday we went back up Buckby Locks. I hate Buckby Locks they are very hard to work. We moored before the tunnel. Today we came down Braunston locks with a pleasant family on a hire boat from Warwick and are now back in the Boat House pub! Sunday dinner! Cheers Graham

Oh to be on the canals again, you make me envious but not in a resentful or nasty way. Maybe I should just use the post card greeting in reverse, 'Wish I was there' :D

Happy snaps time - back on home Wi-Fi.

Going up Braunston Locks - Lexi is in her new automatic life jacket.

Image

Darcy is also in her new lifejacket - Jo is in her new leather jacket! The name plate is on the wrong side.

Image

I had a go at photographing up the vents in Braunston Tunnel. We passed 3 boats in the tunnel the first on the difficult S bend near the Western end.

Image

This was the mooring near the Eastern end of Braunston Tunnel on the way back.

Image

I took a couple of videos in the Tunnel. The first is an another attempt to see up the vent.

The second is passing a boat.

Where's Graham's new jacket? :D

What do mean the name plate is on the wrong side?

I was wearing it - he lied!

The nameplates are handed, the supporting cables are longer at one end. The one in the pic is the port side one, the starboard side one is on the roof. I only made them for the BCN challenge really. Jo found she knocked the port side one off so there isn't one on that side. Later we removed both because the wind blew then around. We encountered some pretty strong wind on that trip.

Cheers Graham

I did notice the plate on the roof, and your explanation is most welcome, I was aslo aware they were made especially for the BCN Challenge. :D

We could make it special by not having one.
:)

I do love the 24hr challenge. Must admit it would take a miracle for us to win.

We are travelling again, we left Calcutt this morning and stopped for lunch at Braunston. After lunch we found a sick duck on the bridge over the canal, next to the main road. We moved it down to the canal and were in the process of ringing the RSPCA when it died. Sad.

We are now on Barby straight. It is just over a mile and has moored boats on half of it. We saw a UFO here, it looked like a vertical cigar. So we call it UFO land.

Mooring after Hillmorton locks.

Cheers Graham
