We have re-filled the tank. It holds around 1.35 tons of water (around 270 gallons) and took 65 mins to fill from a reasonably fast hose. It does make me question my 'dog at a lamp post' approach to water points. The boat is level again having risen 6 ins at the front when it was empty. It is now on the dock at Calcutt having it's bottom blacked and anodes replaced.

I have been painting underneath the batteries. I decided to do this one by staying at my Mum's and commuting rather than living on a boat with no power. I took my trusty (sort of) Herald as Jo wanted the eurobox. I ended up doing 950 miles in it!

It was just a little bit rusty under there.

It is now painted with Vactan rust killer (stops rust?) , bilge paint (impervious to oil etc) and bitumen (stops acid?).

It is all back together despite one or two worries about wiring as despite my attempt to draw a wiring diagram I missed off a few wires. Sorted now and at least I found the starter motor. Mind you the battery isolator seems to be upside down - still it works.

Cheers Graham
