Back from the trip to Weedon. The weather was great but cold. Summary of trip

Saturday - Jo, Son and I headed up to Calcutt after picking up Daughter and Grandkids ( Son in Law is still in Iraq). Arrived just in time for lunch. We decided we needed to pump out one loo. It was the one with the Clean 'n' Green Bowl Cleaner & Tank Deodorant. It may have been clean but deodorised it was not!! The one with Bio-magic was fine. We bought more biomagic, I think that concludes out trial of the two systems although Daughter claimed it was a quality issue with the deposits so to speak. She had been using the clean smelling loo. We filled up with diesel and headed up the locks to a mooring just past Napton Junction.

Sunday - On to Braunston, up the locks to a mooring just above the locks before the tunnel. We walked back down to the Admiral Nelson. It had a fair amount of space and is child friendly but there was a queue for food and they said we couldn't order for half an hour. No good for the kids so we had a beer and left. We saw the landslide at Braunston tunnel. It would cause a wideboat problems but is fine for narrowboats. Down Buckby locks to a mooring just opposite the boatyard. It was a bit noisy with traffic on the M1 and the railway but we slept OK.

Monday - we carried on to Weedon, turned at Weedon wharf (not shown in Nicholson?) and moored by the church on the off side. This is the first time I've been past Weedon and found mooring space by the Church. We visited the local shop as I'd run out of Red wine. Jo and Sam were drinking Rose or white. We also popped into Granny's Cafe for coffee and buns. It's a nice place, possibly a bit basic for some but we liked it. (it was closed last time we went through) Then it was back up the canal to the mooring just above Braunston locks.

Sunday - Up early

There was frost on the ground. We were first through the locks and it showed.

Sorry about the dodgy exposure but it shows the water levels!

The pound beneath lock 5 was empty. As we arrived so did the lock keeper who let plenty of water down from the top. Back to Calcutt and Jo managed to get us in backwards first time.

We all enjoyed it, despite the cold.

Cheers Graham
