In hindsight it's very important to have good supportive staff at your mooring. The staff at Calcutt were great. Roger the founder knows everything. Martin who ran the marina side of things was incredibly patient with his new ignorant moorers, Brian who seems to run the maintenance side had a great sense of humour and helped technically and Debbie ran the front of the office side remembering just about everything.

We wandered into the office before picking up the boat and asked for hooky things. Brian instantly understood and produced Armco Hook.

We now have three different mooring devices in addition to bollards and rings. Hooky things, stakes and chains. The chains come in handy when the bank is supported by concrete piles with a railway line attached.

A very recent piece of knowledge is to tie wrap the ropes together by the bollards in Birmingham as this stops the drunkards slipping them off in the night.

Cheers Graham
