We have picked up Jo and are now moored at Erturia on the Caldon canal. New water for the boat, Jo and I. On to the Black Lion tomorrow for an anniversary dinner. It is our 39th wedding anniversary and I have a card and chocolates for Jo. I bet she has forgotten.

Cheers Graham

We are now moored at Cheddleton having come through some really foul weather. The boat heating is on and it is full of drying shoes and clothes. We are going out to dinner tonight to celebrate our anniversary. Guess what, Jo forgot!

Cheers Graham

What a day! We love this canal with its interesting features all set in a gorgeous landscape. We got as far down the Caldon as you can go, bumping the end of the two arms with bow. A minor snag was Dotterel is about 4 inches to high for the tunnel, so we canoed through it. Then we set off to go back to the junction and down the Leek branch. However, there were no free moorings at the end so we have headed back through the tunnel and moored in the countryside. Cheers Graham

We are back at Etruria. It has been a nice day today with plenty of sunshine. We filled the water tank at Endon so the bow was down at Bridge 9. We cleared the bridge with about 3 inches clearance! We had a minor snag at the staircase lock with a paddle that was apparently down but when I wound it back up and down again went down a bit more! We wondered why it was taking an age!

Dropping Jo off tomorrow then heading back to Calcutt. We may arrive Friday.

I have a fairly large set of happy snaps to upload when I get home complete with some bow camera time lapses.

Cheers Graham

We had a late start today which was fortunate as the weather was grim. We dropped Jo off at Stoke on Trent station and she is now home. The rest of the crew carried on down the T&M and are now moored in Stone.

Cheers Graham

It is, I think it is at maximum range for us. It will take just over two weeks in the end. Nice day today with a bit of sun.

Heading south at the moment, just helped two single handed through a lock. The first a grumpy watsit who didn't even smiles in thanks. The second a very grateful Mohican haired guy who's throttle had just snapped off!

Cheers Graham

We are now at Fradley Junction. Well 2 locks up from it. We visited the pub for a pint of Old Original - this was absolutely devine. The loos were a let down though. I was last here 43 years ago and I am not sure they have cleaned them since. A slight exaggeration maybe but they do need some care and attention to bring them up to the standard we expect nowadays.

On again tomorrow, I think we will be at the top or bottom of Atherstone locks tomorrow evening.

Cheers Graham

Moored at the bottom of Atherstone locks. We started off at Fradley with full wet weather gear on but by lunch were in shorts and t shirt. It has been a bit windy at times making steering interesting. Hoping to get to Ansty tomorrow, Braunston on Friday and back to Calcutt first thing on Saturday.

Cheers Graham

It's interesting taking an armchair cruise with you, some of the places mentioned and visited I have cruised in the past.
