We came up Bucky locks amd passed a lot of boats so had an easy ride. We moored for lunch at the Kings Head and are now sitting out the hotest part of the day just past Norton Junction.

Cheers Graham

Down Braunston locks this morning before it got too hot. We shared with a delightful Israeli couple who a 13 month child. They were very grateful for our help down the locks.

Back on our mooring now with the bow next to the trees which makes the front deck quite pleasant.

The grandkids are leaving tomorrow morning after which is is down one lock to the wharf for pump out and fuel.

Home after that ready for coming back on Friday to set off up North.

Cheers Graham

Have you any idea where up North you might be going?

We are heading to Froghall on the Caldon Canal. Once there we will re-measure the boat just in case it is now 5 inches lower and then canoe through the tunnel!

It's a nice cruise along there.

Happy snaps.

Granddaughter No 1 with Jo

Image

Granddaughter No 2 - she loves working locks and worked 28 wide locks during our trip.

Image

GWR liveried boat - I would like that (Did I mention how annoyed I am that the Hogwarts Castle is actually a Hall?)

Image

Interesting barge although I am not sure about the entrance.

Image

It is always nice to watch the rushing water when there is no boat in the lock

Image

Interesting fibre glass narrow boat - I think they date from the 70s.

Great snaps Graham. Your granddaughters look a lot different from some of your much earlier photographs of them. :D

My sister, her hubby and I are heading north. We set off today and are now on the visitor mooring north of Hillmorton locks. Early start tomorrow.

We are now moored at the bottom of Atherstone locks, we spent a long time behind a boat that insisted that idle was a good speed. He finally waved us past after about 4 miles of crawling, a boat that had caught us up decided he was coming through too! At the next lock we caught up another boat who had also encountered the slow boat. They had become equally frustrated.

The rest of the trip was good with a bit of very heavy rain at one point.

Owing to a slight planning error we are running early!

Cheers Graham

No slow boats today but the wind did make things a bit interesting at times. We are now on the Trent and Mersey two locks up from Fradley Junction. A new canal for Dotterel at least whilst we have owned her. An easy day tomorrow heading for a mooring near Shugborough Hall.

Cheers Graham

We are moored near Shugborough as anticipated. We had a small break in Rugeley and headed on. Then the engine wouldn't stop. Fault traced to dirty contacts on the switch and a bad connection in the loom. On again tomorrow up towards Stone. I am keeping a wary eye on the stoppages list that Maurice posts for us.

Cheers Graham

Glad to know that someone is watching, it is lovely round Stone. Instead of wish you were here, I wish I was there. :D

We are moored in a very pleasant spot above Sandon Lock. We visited Shugborough Hall this morning so haven't cruised very far. On into Stone tomorrow for shopping and then to a spot midway between Stone and Stoke ready for the run through Stoke on Thursday where we plan up Jo.

Cheers Graham

Today we have come up through Stone and are moored 2 hrs away from Stoke station. We are picking up Jo at the station at14:30 tomorrow.

We stopped in Stone for water, supplies and a visit to a rather nice cafe.

So far we have burnt a quarter of a tank of diesel.

Cheers Graham
