Great photos Graham.

Both Nuneaton and brighton are run by volunteers owned by the trust. We last saw them (and assisted them) through Atherstone locks in 2011. Thay really are a great bunch to meet.

We've just been on the boat for a few days. I've finished the drawer that replaces the old radio (the one that was stolen) photos to follow. I also fitted new cushion covers to the base and back of the sofa. I made them myself using an old singer sewing machine handed down to Jo years ago. It works well.

Cheers Graham

We've been up on the boat again taking the Grandkids back to Daughter. I figured out that if we had to use a hotel every time we saw Daughter and Family then it would cost more than the boat mooring and licence. So the cruising is free!!!!

Anyway we had a good time with the kids this is us.

I've started winterising the boat and have drained the hot water tank. The front tank and cold water system will have to wait as I am having the tunnel bands painted next week and don't want to trim the boat stern down.

This is the new drawer.

And this is what it was like.

Great Halloween photo Graham, I only had 5 youngsters call this year. When they asked trick or treat I said trick and offered them some onions :D , you should have seen there reaction, I did give them some goodies after though. If you had come to T or T me, I would have given you some sweets as it happened I had quite a lot left over.

I don't blame you using the boat and I bet the youngsters enjoy it as well.

Off to the boat today to finalise the painting of the upper hull, gunwales and tunnel bands. I might do a bit of work while I'm there. My sister is coming too. Cheers Graham

Perhaps I should have left it to June! My mechanic friend has been looking at the rudder and finally got the swan neck off. He had to make a puller. Then he removed the top bearing at which point the rudder fell off the boat onto the bottom of the canal! It turns out that the rudder wasn't sitting in the bottom bearing hence the problems with general steering but particularly left turns. He had to get in the canal to recover it. It works well now.

The boat is now in the wet dock.

Cheers Graham

These things are sent to try us, and you won't be able to blame the steering once it's been fixed.

The boat is out of the wet dock having had the gunwales, upper part of the hull and the tunnel band painted. There were many coats of you knows what on them. It was all stripped and rust proofed, undercoated and top coated. Looks good.

I've also finished winterizing and measured up the door from our bedroom to the back of the boat. The doors don't fit under the gunwales so here is a draft.

That is probably it for this year - I need to fix the TR7 and then we are going away for Christmas.

Cheers Graham

Lots of work on the agenda, but the boat is looking good.

We have been up to the boat again seeing my daughter and doing some work.

I did some wood work and I had a stare inside the water tank with a view to fitting a liner. The filler pipe needs extending and the old outlets pipes removing or capping and new ones fitted.

It was a mixed weekend weather wise with some glorious sunshine.

And some fierce winds.

We did some gardening cutting down the brambles to widen the path and hopefully reduce the mud resulting from walkers going round the reservoir.

Jo went curio hunting - she buys interesting little antique to put in her 3 display cabinets. She found this.

Image

I was interested as it was made in Cash's Hundred houses before they became housing. They are next to the Coventry Canal and used to have a factory on the top floor with accommodation for the workers on bottom. There never were a hundred and some got bombed but there are 37 left.

This is a picture we took on a cruise to Coventry.

Cheers Graham

I find it very interesting looking through that kind of shop (and out local 'flea market' when I visit the model shop) It is surprising what still 'lurks' out there if you have a good look.
