Track Laying has progressed well. I think I've perfected attaching wires to the old Triang Track. I wire round all points as the blade contact was dodgy when they were new - now it is non-existent. This means I have to make isolation rails. I'll pop on a few details of that later.

I've been rebuilding the scenery and have put the back scene from the old high level behind the low level. This actually works better from a horizon viewpoint as the horizon on the high level was too high to continue the back scene on to the low level!

Trains can run on what will be the Down line through the station and the track is laid out in the fiddle yard but has yet to be wired or cleaned. The fiddle yard is temporary to get trains going. This area will be a station on the modern circuit and will be bypassed by the Triang stock.

Have a look at https://youtu.be/xddNb4zqaDc

Cheers Graham

Coming along nicely, Graham. Is the coach/es in the siding at the end of the film green and cream?

No they are chocolate and cream, the one in the siding by the goods shed at the start is green and cream! Cheers Graham

Work continues, I'll upload some photos later but just to keep the sad forlorn model railway enthusiasts amused here is a video of my turn table working. I am childishly pleased with it. It is run from the normal train supply so you have to isolate the engine on the turntable then select a switch which activates a relay to pull in the contacts and make the turntable go. Once pulled in the contacts are held on physically by the turntable until a tab drops into a slot and stops it.

How about just building a small diorama to give yourself something to display an engine. Could be fun. Cheers Graham

I'm sorry to hear that.

Here are a couple of photos of progress.

I want to operate into the bay in the current station so could either go for a push/pull steam operation or DMU. I bough a Triang DMU! You can see thet the track is now ballasted and there is double track through the staion.

Image

To make room for the double track I had to hack into the embankment and the rebuild didn't leave enough room for the previous path from the Church down towards the canal. Also I now need retaining walls, rather than the steps down to the track and a foot crossing so I'm building this footbridge.

This will enable the bride in the wedding party to leg it down to the canal in safety (where her lover waits with a rowing boat). Why did she leave it to the last moment? What did the groom think? Will the bridesmaid marry the groom? (I may have the tradition wrong there)

Image

I have also redesigned the layout (design is a very loose term) so that the reverse loop I need to build next is a permanent fixture.

Cheers Graham

I've been rewiring all the lights. This is a bit hard as the wires that go down the inside of my home made lamp post are very thin and won't screw into any form of connector. Soldering under the board is the only answer.

I have included, for the first time, the tunnel lamp of a boat inside the tunnel.

It's looking really good Graham. My layouts have all stalled again (personal reasons) apart from my latest 'N' pictures and video.

It's great to see your work in progress pictures, just keep 'em coming, please. :D
