Moving on from the dig for a while I have been working on the lighting side of things. There are two separate circuits, one mostly supplying the old style grain of wheat bulbs and one mostly supplying the LED lights.

The older circuit was supplied by an old Bachmann power supply with a maximum output of half a watt. It used to overheat and switch off. I have now replaced it with a two amp supply fed through a variable regulated power supply.

I have also started on the platform on the modern circuit. This has peco platform sides and I am using Metcalfe platform surface cardboard. The lights need supporting underneath the cardboard so I have added chipboard blocks. Unfortunately they were half a millimetre too high so I had to file them down a little.

When we do work on the boat we often visit the antique centres in Weedon. Jo's addiction to purchasing little curios shows no sign of abating.

This time she bought a blank wax cylinder for an Edison recorder, a graduated medicine dropper and a 1950s whoopee cushion.

I always wonder round and look for canal or model railway stuff.

I found an unused Triang Hornby 9f, a hopper wagon and an oil wagon. Yeah!!!

I have too many engines! The siding which was going to have a brewery on it has been doubled to store engines.

I have just aquired two Triang wagons.

I wanted the black operating hopper wagon as I had one when I was a kid. I have a green non-operting one which was close but not close enough. This one was offered on eBay with the brick wagon.

I have been buying rolling stock again and need an extra siding. I decided to put it on where the allotments were going to go.

The protests have started.

The film crew are there because the Queen and Price Phillip are attending to protest about reduction in Corgi toilet facilities. I think death has come along because of possible environmental issues.

I haven't had so much trouble since the time when I was intending to put a concrete bridge across the front of little Snoring canal tunnel.

Looking good, Graham.
I do like the protesters. A little unusual on a layout.

---------------------------

We have protesters near us . They are against 'fracking'. The thing is the local people want the firm to start work. (Jobs for the locals etc.) The people on the protest live well outside the area?

I am extending the modern system over the Triang one. It is supported on 8mm bolts sunk into taped holes in the loser level. It work very well.

The modern system fiddle yard, well a fiddle loop, is operational. The modern system can now operate end of end.

I had a problem with one of the new points, they are peco electrofrog and have a tiny piece if wire that joins the blades to the frog, if you want a switched frog you cut this wire. It seems that one was pre-cut so I have soldered it!

You will notice from the picture that I have laid the main bus on the surface here as it is non-scenic and this makes connection of the droppers easier. The droppers go sideways in this case! My rule on droppers with the DCC system is that every separate rail must have a wired fish plate at one end. I find it easier solder to the bottom of the fish plate rather than the rail.

I discovered another problem with the 3 rail track across the suspension bridge. I must have laid it in the winter as it has expanded and has a nice S shape. I have taken it up and increased the space in the rail joints.

Cheers Graham
