May The Thanet Canal, also known as the Springs Branch, is a short branch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. It leaves the main canal in Skipton, and runs to some loading wharfs near Skipton Castle, which were used to load limestone from local quarries into boats for onward shipment. It was opened in 1773, and extended in 1794. By Lancastrian |

June Hillmorton, Oxford Canal. This pair of boats appear to use one to push the other. There is also a motorbike on the front deck complete with crane to get it on to the bank. The choice of windows is interesting. By: Graham and Jo |

September Horseshoe Falls is a weir on the River Dee Denbighshire, Wales, about 5 kilometers (3 mi) north-west of the town of Llangollen. The distinctively shaped weir, which is 460 feet (140 m) long, helps create a pool of water that can enter the Llangollen Canal through an adjacent valve house (SEE HERE ) and flow meter.
