Just read this book for the first time :?: Thought it rather charming. Seen the film a few times. Funny how the book is different in many places. I did not know a canal was nearby as well as a railway.

It's seldom that a film portrays the story as written in a book. Even the films differ. Jenny Agutter stars in both, a daughter in the first and a mother in the second.
