were amongst my Christmas presents :

A History of the LMS:
     Book 1 - The First Years, 1923 - 1930
     Book 2 - The Record Breaking Thirties, 1931 - 39
     Book 3 - The War Years and Nationalisation 1939 - 48

and also

East Lancashire Railway By Night, this is as the title suggests a book of full colour photographs, 144 altogether.

I have since acquired 2 more books in the same series.

A History of the LNER No 2 - The age of the Streamliners, 1394-39.
History of Great Western Railway No 2 - the Thirties, 1930-39

I am looking for LNWR now.

When I need to visit my local model shop I always try to go om a Wednesday, on that day there is a local 'flea market' and occasionally bargains can be found.

Oh well ... if we're "off topic" here and talking trains, then I'll throw a motorsport book into the mix!

I was fortunate enough to be asked to design a book at the tail end of last year that recounts the history of the Spa 24 Hours. While not as well known as the similar race at Le Mans, the Spa enduro is only a year younger, and nowadays attracts many of the teams that also compete at Le Mans each June - although only in the GT categories, not the prototypes.

I was supplied with the text and photos (although there are some of my own photos in the book) and then commissioned to turn raw material into finished book. I'm relieved to say that the reviews have been very complimentary, and I'm now working on another one!
