I love this book. It looks at life at sea through dishes that were offered on the ships' menus. After an introduction of life on board liners through the decades, the book describes some excellent recipes of meals on board the said liners. The recipes are tried and tested and can be made for 2,3 or 4 people.

As I like cooking and am the 'chef' in our house shall I make an easy dish 'Kromeskis a la Russe' that was served on the Laconia on Monday, 28 January 1929, or, a little harder to make Corned Beef Hash that was served on the Queen Mary on Tuesday, 1 March 1966, or any one of many meals to choose? Decisions. Decisions

Not only is there Main Dishes, there are the Starters and Desserts and Cocktails and Canapes.

The book is an absolute delight to read, make meals from the recipes and settle back with a drink and imagine being at sea on the luxury liners of yesteryear.
