Just read this book. It is about the evacuation of children to countries around the world in WW2. The journies to Australia, Canada, South Africa, USA etc. The lives the children had whilst there and repatriation back to the UK.
Some amazing stories, a few sad ones, funny ones. A poignant read.

The stories of having so much open space in other countries. Most had a good time, some not. With the war lasting so long, when the children returned home, some parents did not want their children back! Some children did not want to come back. Some just could not wait to come home.
If a war happens again, evacuation of children will not happen again.
