I am after some advice/help about a heating system for my boat (not yet purchased). It will be something like a Rinker Fiesta Vee 250/ Bayliner 2855/2655 Ciera or similar. Want to know what is best heating system (for petrol and/or diesel craft).

Hi, welcome to the Forum.

Boat heating is a very wide topic. I had a look at the type of boat you are thinking about. Most of us have narrow boat experience so it may not apply too well.

This is one of the types I think.

I guess it all boils down to what to burn an how to get the heat into the boat.

Choice of fuels.

Wood burning - not with your style of boat I think!!

LPG - you will need a gas locker - a space sealed from the rest of the boat with low level vents discharging over board.

Petrol - the term floating bomb comes to mind.

Diesel - you will either need a diesel boat or an extra tank for the heating.

How to get the heat to the boat.

Convection from a diesel stove - there are a few around.
Indirect by water with radiators.
Blown air. The blown air option I think is quite popular on motor cruiser style boats.

That will do for a start I think.

Cheers Graham

Thanks Graham
Yes it is a boat like that and yes I have been doing some research about blown air options so will continue down this road I think; not keen on the other fuel options
Cheers
Will
