There has been a mention on the news this morning that Macclesfield Canal has being given an award. I have tried to find out more but at the moment cannot. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

This award is a joke, since the last post I have cruised the whole of the Macc twice. It is green, very green with overgrowing vegetation and trees along the whole of the length, particularly at bridgeholes where safety is compromised with poor visibility and brambles and stinging nettles to catch the unwary. Crumbling bank protection and lack of attention to areas needing repair point to a possible major failure in the future.Paint or the lack of it is very evident by the rusting and uncared fore structures along the canal.Low water levels only add to the difficulty of navigation like the top pound at Bosley locks (the longest on the flight) 2 feet down and the feed from the 26 mile top level reduced to a trickle.
