Some excellent footage, but why O why do the BBC get simple facts wrong, for eg describing a LL motorized short boat as a fly boat! able to carry twenty tons!when in fact LL short boats could carry 45 tons. Other gaffs were also made make your own list.

A fly-boat is also a narrowboat which works all day and all night (24/7) on the English canal system without mooring.[12] They appeared in the 1790s and later attempted to emulate the railways by running to timetables so that deliveries could be assured.[13]

I also picked up on those CKP.

I am not sure but I thought at one point he dropped a paddle, unless it was a geared one to automatically drop down slowly. He also got on his boat and took up the position as though he was going to drive off although it was still moored up.

I did generally enjoy the programme having cruised the LL many times.

Yes he could, but it was his own fault he didn't have the safety catch on to stop the paddle dropping.

The start of the programme at County Arcade was where I used to work for a short while.

I watched it last night and thought that more time could have beed dedicated to places such as the Bingly 3 & 5 rises and maybe a mention about Wigan Pier, instead of been in a clothes shop, and reduced the time spent on Liverpool.
It covered the purpose of the canal very well. I know that a half hour program can only cover so much, but the program was supposed to be about the the canal. overall i enjoyed it. (7 out of 10).

May not seem much but maybe also the Burnley Embankment could have had a mention, it is regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of Britain's waterways.

I think that the Leeds & Liverpool canal really needs 4 half hour programs to do it justice. I agree about Burnley and their embankment and they could have interviewed me about my grandfather stealing water from the canal to supply his factory.
