Sankey (St. Helens) Canal - Fidlers Ferry by Lancastrian

A walk along the towpath from Fidlers Ferry to where the canal is severed at Widnes.

Differences in spelling:-It is interesting that the St Helens Canal and Railway Company had spelled their railway station name as Fidlers Ferry but the CEGB used Fiddlers Ferry for both the their railway and power station.

It was a pleasant walk, we walked from Spike Island Widnes to Fidlers Ferry, calling at the famous Ferry Tavern, originally the Ferry Inn. It is such a shame that the canal is not navigable past Fidlers Ferry Marina to Widnes.

I have more photographs to sort from the Widnes section.
