Type: Navigation Closure
Reason: Boat damage

Update on 17/03/2014:

A boat has sunk in Lock 11. In order to recover the boat, the canal will be drained between Locks10 and 11.

Prior to draining, a fish rescue will be undertaken.

A lift plan for the crane is currently being devised by our engineers and a specialist crane contractor.

The boat is precariously balanced and full of water.

Removal of the boat will not be straightforward.

We speculate thet the canal will remain closed until the end of the week.

Refer to this website for further updates that will be forthcoming as the works progress.


Original message:

Due to an incident at lock 11, the Bath flight of locks, 7 to 11, is closed until further notice.

Canal & River Trust Apologise for any inconvenience caused.

It's an Alvechurch boat or ABC leisure as they now call themselves. The livery is the same as ours. Not that I've seen ours from quite that angle. Drinking and boating don't mix! Cheers Graham
