BOATS AND CANALS

My boating days started on this lake first with this launch and later in rowing boats. They had single seater racing skiffs which they only hired out to competent rowers and only then if lake was not too choppy. CKP

Those were the days when parks with lakes and reservoirs had boats to hire by the hour. All my local ones have disappeared, the boats not the lakes.

I Cannot Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought

A combination of "Health & Safety" and "too mundane for the likes of us", I suspect. I blame computer games!

Still, "believe me, my young friend, there is nothing—absolute nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."
