I attended a meeting yesterday and before it started canal holidays crept into the chat, not by me I might add, but I think it was for my benefit. When asked about it, I obviously sang its praises. A bit more chat and hotel boats drifted into the conversation and I was asked what I thought about them. I explained that I have never been on one, but they did serve a purpose but I preferred to come and go as I please. "I would like a holiday on the canals" piped up one of those 'in the know' types, "not on a hotel boat, but a broad beam narrowboat."
What could I say to that?
