This is my local canal and I am very familiar with it,the canal is only three feet deep so it is quite simple to stand up in it if you fall in. The problem arises when you hit your head on something on the way down, if you slide under a flat bottom narrowboat in such shallow water then you could be trapped and drowned.The bridge and surrounds are high above the water and it is necessary to pull into the side to drop off your crew and to pick them up again afterwards.Too many people are in a hurry to get through this bridge often due to the impatience of the motorist waiting to cross from both sides
