Monday 31st March, 9:00pm More4 Episode 4 - Canal du Nivernais

For the last stage of Tim and Pru's canal odyssey, they head to France's burgundy wine region to visit the Canal du Nivernais, which runs through some of the most picturesque scenery in northern France, passing towns and villages steeped in medieval history.

The canal was critical in helping to ship wine north from the vineyards to Paris and beyond.

The journey is a gastronomic pleasure trip for Tim and Pru. They visit the market at Chablis and help out at the annual grape harvest.

They visit their youngest son, Joe and the medieval city of Auxerre; and also reflect on what the journey has meant for them as a couple.

Another excellent programme in fact I will go so far as to say my favourite of the series. I have never been fortunate enough to be able to afford to buy my own boat or even have a share in one. However the advantage to this is that I have been able to start all my holidays from different hire bases and have covered quite a lot of our canals

I have also cycled to Llangollen on many occasions and spent many hours along the canal.

Sorry to disagree but last nights program was not a patch on the previous two, so much of interest was missed, instead we were treated to some pretty poor boat handling shots, crash bang wallop.I am sure we all make mistakes but we dont go around making out its normal! The railway episode was good but overlong and there were several factual errors.

Yes in a way I agree, they missed out the 'new' long narrow and shallow stretches, including some other scenic areas, but my comments refer to the actual canal footage and my own personal memories, rather than the contents of the whole presentation. I also noticed factual some errors.

Well CKP you are not the only one to have a senior moment with this series, as you can see I originally posted that this episode was due to start at 8:00 pm, I have now amended it to 9:00 pm. Sorry
